Det har gått nästan sex år sedan "The undiscovered country", men någon ringrostighet märks knappast på "Future of the past". Och inte ålderskrämpor heller, trots att Destiny existerat i en eller annan form ända sedan 1982. I stället levererar kvintetten en stadig dos mörk metal som förenar det bästa hos Savatage, Metal Church, Deep Purple och Black Sabbath. Dock var idén att spela in i egna DRS-studion inte lysande, då den något tafatta ljudbilden är det enda som hindrar plattan från att träffa helt rätt. Destiny Future of the past +++ Metal (Powerline/Border) Sorry Europe, but this year’s most interesting comeback so far is Gothenburg veterans Destiny. It’s been almost six years since “The Undiscovered Country”, but the band sure doesn’t seem rusty on “Future of the Past”. And no ailments due to old age either, in spite of the band having been around in one form or the other since 1982. Instead the quintet delivers a firm dose of dark metal which combines the best of Savatage, Metal Church, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. However, the idea to record the album in the band’s own studio DRS wasn’t all that brilliant, since the somewhat awkward sound is the only thing that prevents the album from hitting the spot.
