| Destiny "Future of the Past" 8,5 Det senaste från detta svenska veterangäng inom doom metal kommer definitivt att få en del personer att haja till. Sångaren Kristoffer Göbel (också sångare i power metalbandet Falconer) bidrar med alla texterna på sin första skiva med Destiny, deras första sedan 1998. Det vimlar av Candlemassinfluenser precis som det gjorde för fem år sedan, men ändå är det Göbel som får alltihop på plats. Hans röst svävar som en ung Messiah Marcolins på ett sätt som fullkomligt motsäger hans ålder. Bland de nio spåren blandar ”Flying Dutchman” Maiden/Candlemass/King Diamond till sex minuters majestätisk metal. Det finns inte ett enda svagt spår på plattan. Destiny "Future of the Past" 8,5 The latest from this veteran doom metal outfit from Sweden is bound to turn a few heads. Singer Kristoffer Gobel (also singer for power metal band falconer) contributes all of the lyrics on what is his first outing with Destiny, their first since way back in 1998. Candlemass influences abound as they did five years ago but again it's Gobel that brings it all together. His voice soars like a young Messiah Marcolin in a style that totally belies his age. Of the nine tracks, "Flying Dutchman" crosses Maiden/Candlemass/King Diamond into six minutes of majestic metal. There is not a weak track on the disc. If the future of doom is as progressive and powerful as this release, I say bring on the "Future of the Past". Killer stuff! 8,5 Allan Grusie |
