DESTINY Future Of The Past
Yet another band that keeps coming back all the time, in spite of years of silence between the releases. Stefan Björnshög is one of the noblemen of Swedish metal and he keeps the bass pumping at a pace and format which fortunately enough is very recognisable. Here we speak of heavy metal without any peculiarities, totally along the lines of the ideals that were predominant 20 years ago. And yet the title seems expressive. Future Of The Past points out a possible future for this sound springing from yesterday’s heroic history which hard rock has taken part in creating. ”Flying Dutchman” turns the clock back to the golden decade of headbangning and the opening track “Holy Man” also involves a pleasant effort for the muscles at the nape of one’s neck. Every now and then it gets a bit long-winded, which all in all turns Future Of The Past into an average album.

Ännu ett gäng som ständigt återkommer, trots årtal av tystnad mellan utgåvorna. Stefan Björnshög tillhör den blågula metallens adelsmän och han låter basen pumpa på i ett tempo och format som glädjande nog känns igen med all önskvärd tydlighet.. Här handlar det om heavy metal utan egentliga konstigheter, helt enligt samma ideal som rådde för tjugo år sedan. Ändå ter sig titeln talande. Future Of The Past pekar ut en möjlig framtid för detta sound ur gårdagens hjältehistoria som hårdrocken varit med om att skapa. ”Flying Dutchman” tickar tillbaka klockan till bangandets gyllne årtionde och öppningsspåret ”Holy Man” innebär också en gemytlig ansträngning för nackmukselaturen. Där emellan segar det till sig här och var vilket sammantaget gör Future Of The Past till ett verk i mittfåran.
