Nothing Left To Fear Heavy Mental - * * * * Sweden is fantastic not only in the areas of ice-hockey, ping-pong, boxing and hit songs. As far as the really heavy hard rock is concerned we have Candlemass, Entombed and Omnitron who are at least as good as their more well-known colleagues abroad. And we have Destiny who play the crap out of their competitors with their third album "Nothing Left To Fear". The record is honest and uncompromising and definitely lives up to the epithet dark metal. Destiny have the skills needed to reach the hard rock elite. They are stubborn, single-minded and talented. What does that sound like, you ask yourselves. Incredibly good, is my answer. It is difficult to label the music, but aggressive heavy metal with class is probably the most appropriate label. The predecessor "Atomic Winter" was convincing but with "Nothing Left To Fear" Destiny take their musical concept one step further. Now the vocal part as well as the musical part harmonises. The singer Zenny Hansson is probably the one who has developed the most compared with the previous record. The shrill yelling has been replaced by a powerful and atmospheric voice that sounds more natural. "Nothing Left To Fear" is an almost sterling record. "Sheer Death" and "Evil Trinity" are brutal metal, while "Beyond All Sense" is an almost terrifying song, full of atmosphere, about a woman who is persecuting a man. The only track that is beyond the scope of "dark metal" is "Sirens In The Dark". It's an old song, reminding of Iron Maiden, which hardly qualifies for a metal record dated 1991. On the CD there is also another old song; "Rest In Peace". Destiny have brilliantly returned to the scene of hard rock. "Nothing Left To Fear" is a manifestation of r-e-a-l heavy metal. Inom den riktigt tunga hårdrocken har vi Candlemass, Entombed och Omnitron vilka är minst lika duktiga som sina mer kollegor utomlands. Och - vi har Destiny som med tredje plattan "Nothing Left To Fear" spelar skiten ur konkurrenterna. Plattan är ärlig och kompromisslös och gör verkligen skäl för egna epitetet mörkrock. Destiny har egenskaperna som krävs för att nå hårdrockens elit. De är envis, målmedvetna och har talang. Hur låter det då, frågar ni er. Fruktansvärt bra, blir mitt svar. Musiken är svår att kategorisera men aggressiv heavy metal med klass är väl det närmaste en etikett man kan komma. Förlagan "Atomic Winter" var övertygande men med "Nothing Left To Fear" tar Destiny sitt musikaliska koncept ett steg längre. Nu stämmer det såväl vokalt som musikaliskt. "Nothing Left To Fear" är en näst intill helgjuten platta.
