![]() In 1998, we finally came to witness the emergence of a new Destiny album: The Undiscovered Country. It has been seven years since its predecessor was released. Since then Destiny, weary now of bogus record companies, have been biding their time, waiting for the right deal as opposed to any deal. The right deal eventually came, and Destiny are now signed to Gothenburg Noice Works. Naturally, it was rather exciting to plunge into Destiny's latest effort. What would it be like? Would it stick to the Destiny formula and steadfast evolution? Or would the band tread the wide path that so many metal heroes of old had already gone down: that of changing the music according to the whims of musical trends? It came as no surprise, though, that Destiny are still standing their own ground. The Undiscovered Country is yet another logical progression for this unrelenting band. It is, as one would expect, their finest to date. The songwriting is stronger than ever, and with the help of Jörgen Cremonese and Christian Silver in the studio the sound is amazingly good. It sounds contemporary without paying tribute to any trends, be they aggro, death, black, grunge or what have you. This is an album that says: "Hey! We invented our brand of metal! Like hell we will abandon it because of what is presently and shortly in vogue!" Credits
